World Ship Society - FROM THE PAST - AGM 2006

59th Annual General Meeting - Newcastle-upon-Tyne - June 2006

A very successful 59th Annual General Meeting has now concluded. The 2006 AGM, hosted by the Tyneside Branch took place on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th June at the Copthorne Hotel Newcastle.  The weekend followed the normal format with a “Get Together” starting at 2000 hrs on the Friday.  Various visits were then arranged for the Saturday morning followed by the AGM in the afternoon.  The AGM Dinner took place in the evening with a very entertaining After Dinner Speaker and draw.  Following a short walk along the Quayside on the Sunday Morning we embarked on a Three-Hour Cruise to the mouth of the Tyne river and back. Tea Coffee and light refreshments were available to purchase on the boat.  On returning to the Quayside the official part of the weekend came to a close.

The following photos are just a few of the many that your webmaster took while on his visit to the Tyneside area.  Since there are not a lot of ships to be seen in Newcastle itself, I have added scenes from downriver at ports such as North Shields, Hartlepool and areas around Newcastle.  All photos on this site are copyrighted 2006-2008 by The World Ship Society, Ltd. and/or the photographer, Glenn Smith
