This Society seeks to create a more comprehensive historical record of the Brass Pedestal Telegraphs, which were used for communicating orders, mainly between the wheelhouse and the engine room. We need your help to achieve this aim. We need your help to achieve this aim. [02.2011]
Over one hundred and fifty years of publishing scholarly editions of historical travel literature. Membership of the Society is strongly recommended to everyone interested in the history of exploration and travel, geographical discovery and world wide cultural encounter. For an annual subscription, a member receives all volumes issued by the Society (other than those of the Extra Series) during the period of membership. Currently, two or three volumes are published each year. These books are excellent value. The extremely interesting and historically significant texts and translations, often appearing in print for the first time, are fully annotated and well-illustrated. [02.2011]
CAVALIER is the only surviving Royal Navy destroyer dating from World War II. Apart from her intrinsic interest, a prime objective in her preservation over the past 30 years is that she should be a fitting memorial to the 155 destroyers and 30,000 crew members of the Royal Navy lost in that conflict. This objective has still to be satisfactorily achieved. [02.2011]
The objectives of this society are: To own and operate the paddle steamer MEDWAY QUEEN through the auspices of the "New Medway Steam Packet Company Ltd."; preserve the ship for as long as is possible for the public benefit; to stimulate and arouse interest in the MEDWAY QUEEN and other paddle steamers; and to encourage research into their history. The Society's aims are to promote and sustain interest in the preservation and continued enjoymnet of seaside piers. The seaside piers around the coast of Britain stand as a powerful reminder of the achievements of Victorian engineers and entrepreneurs. The NRHV, created and maintained with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage and the National Maritime Museum, provides an authorative assessement of the significance of historic vessels. [02.2011]

The Newcomen Society is the world's oldest learned society devoted to the study of the history of engineering and technology. The Society is based in London and is concerned with all branches of engineering: civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, aeronautical, marine, chemical and manufacturing.
Original research papers are given at regular evening meetings held at the Science Museum in London; these papers are subsequently published in the Transactions of the Newcomen Society. Visiting WSS members can present 35mm slides upon advance notice and agreement here in the San Francisco Bay area. Commercial boat tours to Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet (currently with 73 ships) are now made on last Saturday and Sunday of each month from Martinez Marina. [09.2009]
The Ocean Liner Society is a non-profit organisation whose members celebrate the passenger ship in its many forms. Whether your interest is the liners of yesteryear, the cruise ships of today or ferries, the society has something for all. Members include employees of major shipping companies, authors and ship buffs, inveterate travellers and armchair sailors.

The RNLI is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. Volunteer crew members readily exchange leisure, comfort and sleep for cold, wet and fatigue. Their lifesaving work is essential, often difficult and sometimes dangerous. [02.2009]
The Ships on Stamps Unit is a member of the International Federation of Maritime Philately, an association of ship stamp groups in many countries for the promotion of friendship among maritime philatelists around the world, and the exchange of information about ships on stamps. The SS Uganda was built for the British India Steam Navigation Company Ltd. as a relatively ordinary passenger-cargo liner to serve on their UK-East Africa service. However, she went on to experience an exceptional career as an educational cruise ship, a hospital ship during the Falklands War and, finally, a troopship serving the Falklands while Mount Pleasant Airport was under construction. The SS Uganda Trust, which has a close association with the former liner and the people associated with her, was created to advance public education in maritime history and to provide educational and recreational facilities for children and young people. The Society for Ship Enthusiasts and others interested in the maritime scene. The Thames Ship Society, also known as the TSS was formed in 1962 by a group of like minded shipping enthusiasts. The main aim of the society is to provide high quality tours to major shipping areas, enabling the members to note the ships seen and to obtain the best possible photographic opportunities of the shipping. Titanic International is a non-profit historical organization based in New Jersey that was founded in 1989 to preserve and perpetuate the memory and history of the Royal Mail Ship Titanic, and those who sailed aboard her maiden and last voyage. Through the pages of our quarterly, fully-illustrated journal, Voyage, as well as through frequent membership activities, Titanic International Society disseminates the latest research in the Titanic and her legacy. With members invited to “get involved”, Titanic International Society is known as the history group that listens, and one which encourages robust discussion on the Titanic and her people.
