WORLD SHIP SOCIETY — The Society for anyone interested in ships or shipping, whether it be as a hobby or as a serious researcher.  Interested in Shipping Company histories?   Check out our "WSS Books Available" section from the list to the left.   Interested in the naval side of shipping? Check out our NAVAL AFFAIRS   sections.    Then check out our MEMBERSHIP categories.

We are making every effort to present you with our entire spectrum of offers.   At this point we can provide you with information regarding important "Announcements", Membership information and the latest WSS publications, Branch listings, and the Society history. We have recently added several member photo albums, a new section for the W.S.P.L. (photo library), plus details of several hundred books authored or published independently by our members, and fascinating blogs by Ann Haynes and Bruce Peter.  More content is being added daily.

We are looking forward to hearing from you. An easy-to-use feedback form can be found at the bottom of this page — but only for questions about the Society itself or about Society membership or about this website.

The World Ship Society is about Research and enjoyment by enthusiasts of ships and shipping company history.  We do not have any affiliation with companies looking for crew or other services. We cannot help you obtain a job aboard ships.  Our Society is operated by a large team of dedicated individual volunteers, which means there is no central office.

Interested in joining the World Ship Society?  If so, check out one of our MEMBERSHIP pages -   click here  to access an Application Form.

If you are not familiar with our organisation and your first contact with us is online, we would be pleased to hear from you! An application for membership can be obtained by requesting one from the Membership Secretary or by completing and returning the form attached to the "MEMBERSHIP" section on this website. Membership for the calendar year 2013 is £20 and includes a free PDF of our monthly journal Marine News.  A hard copy is available for an additional fee.

In brief, you should know the following about us: our organisation was formed in 1947 and incorporated in 2002.  It became a registered charity on 19th January 2011 and has been responsible for providing outstanding member services ever since. Our specialty is in the area providing timely and historical information on ships world-wide and shipping company histories. We have published dozens of books and monographs on various shipping companies.  We have an extensive photograph collection (known as the W.S.P.L.), and we provide members with research advice.  There are many, many divisions within the Society, each devoted to a particular aspect of shipping, such as our Naval division, or our Small Craft division. With members and branches world-wide, the World Ship Society provides service to thousands of ship enthusiasts and researchers.  In addition, those members who have the opportunity of joining a local branch have the added benefit of friendship which evolves from monthly meetings.

If you want further information about the activities of the World Ship Society, or you have a question or two about membership, or about the operation of the Society, or about postings to the website, please complete the following General Enquiry Submission form and submit it to us.

The following enquiry form is NOT to be used for enquiries about specific ships, employment aboard ships, requests for photographs, shipping company histories or specific research questions. Your response, once received by the webmaster, will be forwarded on to the appropriate volunteer, or posted to our "Enquiries Board".

Please complete all sections marked with an *.  Especially important is a correct e-mail address, as the system does not track your address.  If you do not wish to divulge your postal address, please at least indicate the country you are living in, as different responses apply to different regions.                                       Please specify in the drop-down Comment box the nature of your enquiry,       then hit the "Submit" button.

Any e-mail address or postal address submitted will not be used for any advertising purpose, nor sold to 3rd party organisations.  The Society has a strict policy of not divulging e-mail or postal addresses to anyone other than Society directors, without the consent of the owner.
