World Ship Society - MEMBERSHIP - Membership Information
COME ABOARD !
An invitation to join the World Ship Society
Consider a membership in the World Ship Society. Not only will you gain access to some of the most renowned maritime researchers in the world, you will also be able to partake in interesting activities around the world, such as volunteering or attending our Annual General Meeting - or just conversing with fellow ship lovers.
Most of our members live miles from the sea, but still retain a keen desire to keep abreast of the latest news concerning all aspect of modern (and not-so-modern) ships and their companies. The Society has published many books on the subject and continues its commitment to publish at least three new titles each year. The publications are offered to WSS members at great discounted prices.
If your interest is more on the naval side, we have a whole division specialising in naval affairs. This division publishes a tri-annual magazine, called what else—Warships.
Every member receives a copy of our monthly magazine Marine News. Small maybe, but its 64 pages are packed with detail and photographs on ships around the world.
The World Ship Society is a unique organisation, controlled by its members and run by its members. Nearly all the tasks undertaken are done so by volunteers. Volunteering for an organisation that specialises in ships is a perk in itself, and gives one a wonderful warm feeling of "belonging" to a Society made up of like-minded fellow ship enthusiasts. Young or old — we welcome all !
In fact, most of our present members first became interested in ships and shipping during their pre-teen years. Many of our present members joined the Society when they were in their late teens, and have remained members for decades. Others discovered the Society after they retired from an active work life, and were looking for an organisation that would cater to their needs and their interests. Although the Society is headquartered in the United Kingdom, almost half our members live outside the UK — in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, as well as some scattered in every far corner of the world.
If you have any questions about any aspect of our Society which you are unable to find amongst our many webpages, feel free to e-mail the webmaster at webmaster@worldshipsociety.org
